Beaumont Hospital Transplant Information Day




        BEAUMONT HOSPITAL TRANSPLANT
        INFORMATION DAY
        On Saturday May 6th Beaumont hospital hosted
        a Transplant Information Day in the hospital. It
        was well attended by patients and covered
        topics such as the psychological impact of
        transplantation, criteria for allocating deceased
        donor kidneys, practical implication of
        transplantation amongst others.
           The Irish kidney Association was invited to
        have a stand and to promote our services and
        we also had an opportunity to promote the
        World Transplant Games Fit for Life initiative.

             we were delighted to launch our new Digital
         ADonor Card on the same day as we launched
         Organ donor Awareness Week this year.
            The process is very simple; go to www.donor.ie
         on your smart phone and follow the instructions to
         download the Digital Donor Card which is hosted by
         iDly Systems. The app. offers you the opportunity to
         share your wishes about organ donation via text,
         WhatsApp and Facebook, amongst other social
         media platforms.
            iDly Systems is an Irish startup specialising in
         digital ID products. Founded by two Trinity College
         Students, Finn Murphy & Dário Tavares Antunes,
         they solved their own problem of losing their
         student cards and not being able to access services
         on campus. During an accelerator program they
         took part in last summer they looked to other
         sectors where they could use the digital ID card  to a digital wallet we can not only save time, money and
         software effectively and the IKA and Organ      frustration but also allow people to better communicate with

         The Kilkenny All Star hurling great Micheal Fennelly
         was happy to step in to a photocall to promote the
         Pedal the Peaks, Pat Colgan Challenge which will
         take place on Sunday, August 27th. The event is
         organised by the Tullamore Cycling & Touring Club
         which has chosen the Offaly Branch of the IKA to be
         its charity partner for the third year in succession.
         Over €23,000 was raised for our charity over the past
         two years.
           The cycle starts out from the Tullamore Harriers
         Athletics Club in County Offaly. The sportive offers a
         number of distances so there is something for
         everyone and it offers a great day out for all the
         family. Some of the sportive's more challenging
         routes take in the beautiful Slieve Bloom
