IKA IN RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR TRANSPLANT TEAM IRELAND

The Irish Kidney Association is currently recruiting new members to sign up for Transplant Team Ireland and celebrate the 'gift of life' through sport.

The organisation is hoping to recruit under 18’s and seniors (both transplant recipients and people currently on dialysis) from around the country to represent Ireland at various international events including the Winter World Transplant Games in Switzerland in March 2012 as well as the European Transplant & Dialysis Games to be held in Croatia in August 2012. New National Honorary Chariman

The Irish Kidney Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Doody as its new National Honorary Chairman. He was elected to this position on the 2nd July, 2011 for a two-year term.
Martin Doody is a native of Portlaoise, Co. Laois. He has been a member of the IKA since 1995 which he joined while undergoing dialysis treatment at Cork University Hospital.
He had a successful simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant in Beaumont Hospital in 1997.

Renal Patient Survey

Dear IKA Patient Menber,
In 2006 the European Kidney Patient's Feederation (CEAPIR) published the results of a survey which clearly showed that there was a wide variance for patients between European countries when they were asked to choose between dialysis treatment options. They have now asked the Irish Kidney Association to survey our patients with the following question:
